The New Electrical Contractors CEU Requirements Have Been Adopted By The State of New Jersey
The buzz has been circling around for the last few months about the new rules and regulations that are going to be required for meeting the continuing educational requirements for renewing your electrical contractors license in the state of New Jersey.
It is finally official; The new rules and regulations have been posted in the New Jersey Register as of March 6, 2023 and this now makes them a law and requirement in the process of renewing your electrical contractors or Class A journeyman licenses within the state of New Jersey.
The recently adopted rules and regulations allow individuals to complete the 24-hour continuing education requirements in-person or through electronic distance learning courses that are live and synchronous for instructor and licensee interaction in real time. The 10-hour NEC update course (1-hour law and 9-hours code) is now required to be in-person and based on the latest changes to the 2023 National Electrical Code.
Licensed Class A journeyman are now required to complete 15-hours of continuing educational requirements based on the most recent edition of the National Electrical Code for each triennial period.
Licensed New Jersey electrical contractors will renew their licenses by March 31, 2024 and Class A journeyman will renew their licenses by 12/31/2024 for this triennial renewal period.
The new adopted rules and regulations can be located under 55 N.J.R. 391(b), Volume 55, Issue 5, March 6, 2023.
